A season of controversy, back-biting, heartache and triumph all came to an end on Tuesday night of “The Biggest Loser” 2012 finale.

The results show was especially compelling for Michigan residents, who tuned in to see several Michigan contestants, including two from Rockford, who made the final three.

The winner would walk away with $250,000 and be whisked away to NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday morning.

The first one to come out was Conda, 24, of Rockford:

“I’m hard to deal with, I have my attitude, I have my opinions, and I don’t mind sharing them,” Conda said in a video of her journey on the show.

But she also changed along the way: “Now I feel like I have changed, and I’ve had the most incredible journey.” In the audience were family members, including her two-year-old daughter.

The next on to come out was her brother Jeremy, 22, also of Rockford:

“This has been amazing experience,” he said during the video. “I kept my eye on the prize, and that’s why I am a finalist.”

The last one to come out was Kim Nielsen of Roswell, Georgia, who is originally from Falmouth, Michigan (near Cadillac):

The weigh in:

• Conda weighed in at 179 pounds, losing 115 pounds, giving herself a percentage of 39.12.

• Jeremy weighed in at 190 pounds, losing 199 pounds, giving himself a percentage of 51.16. WOW!

• Kim weighed in at 134 pounds, losing 118 pounds, giving herself a percentage of 46.83.

Jeremy wins Season 13 of “The Biggest Loser.”

Earlier in the show, host Allison Sweeney said the three contestants who quit the show are not at tonight’s finale: Joe Messina (he quit at Week 3), and Mark Cornelison and Allen “Buddy” Shuh of Wayne, Michigan (who both quit during the controversial Week 15).

She introduced all the contestants competing in the $100,000, “at-home” portion of the challenge. The contestant with the highest percentage of weight loss will win the money.

They all checked in, including fellow Michigan contestants:

Cassandra Sturos of Fowlerville (who lost 92 pounds; for a percentage of 38.49)

Ben Shuh of Howell (who lost 139 pounds, for a percentage of 35.10)

Nancy Rajala of Fowlerville (who lost 56 pounds; for a percentage 25.81)

And it was Mike Messina, 41, of Oakland, Calif., who lost 160 pounds for a percentage of 44.69 to win the “at-home” loser title, and the $100,000 prize. He was eliminated at Week 2, and narrowly lost to Jeremy to get back on the show in the final three.

Overall, it was an entertaining season, and one of the better groups over the past several seasons.

Let’s do it again.
