The food at Slows BBQ in Detroit is so popular it’s no wonder there are a lot of favorites.
However, today the Yardbird is getting all the attention. It’s being featured tonight on the Travel Channel’s series “Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America.”
It’s one of 30 contenders host Adam Richman selected from across the country to compete for the title of Best Sandwich in America.
Tara Garrity is the manager at Slows.
“It’s Amish chicken, pulled chicken, sautéed with a mustard barbecue sauce with mushrooms,” says Garrity.
It also has cheese and is topped with two slices of applewood smoked bacon.
Scott Donovan has been eating at Slows twice a week since it opened back in 2005.
“I was in the mood for chicken. I like the bacon. It’s fairly light. I can still work after this,” he says.
Valentine Hostetler heard about tonight’s show and decided she had to try it.
“I love everything about it … the sauce, the chicken, the bacon… it’s decadent,” says Hostetler.
Adam Richman judges the sandwiches based on his “bite” scale. He looks at the the bread, interior, taste and and eating experience.
“The biggest prize would be to show Detroit in a true light,” says Garrity.
The Travel Channel’s series featuring Slows’ Yardbird sandwich airs tonight, Wednesday, July 25th, at 9.
